BENGKULUTERKINI.ID – The Bengkulu City Government is taking a firm step to regulate vendors who have increasingly set up shops on the shoulder of KZ Abidin Street, near the Pasar Minggu area. The currently chaotic condition of the road is deemed to be disrupting the convenience of visitors and the smooth flow of traffic around the location. This necessary measure is being implemented to restore order and safety for both pedestrians and motorists in a densely populated commercial area.
The Second Assistant to the Bengkulu City Regional Secretariat, Sehmi, explained that the City Government will issue three warning letters to vendors who continue to operate on the road shoulder.
Each warning will be given sequentially, with a one-day interval between letters. Following this, the vendors will be given a one-week deadline to stop all selling activities in the prohibited area.
“We are targeting that within one week, there will be no more buying and selling activities on the road body or the sidewalk. Relevant Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) such as the Trade Office, Revenue Office, Transportation Office, and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) will directly enforce this regulation,” said Sehmi.
In addition to the City Government, the police have also expressed full support for the enforcement effort. The Head of the Ratu Samban Police Precinct, AKP Dendi Putra, affirmed that his unit is ready to assist the local government in maintaining public order and ensuring the smooth implementation of the regulation.
“We are ready to back up the City Government’s steps in enforcing the regulation. The situation on the ground has significantly disrupted community activities, so this enforcement must be carried out,” said AKP Dendi.
The City Government hopes that this decisive action will restore order and make the KZ Abidin Street area neat and comfortable again for market visitors and other road users. (FIRMAN)
