BENGKULUTERKINI.ID – The Bengkulu City Government will focus its 2026 budget allocation on the development of basic community infrastructure, particularly roads and drainage systems. This step is a priority given the budget constraints and efficiency policies being implemented by the local government. These foundational projects are critical to improving daily life and enhancing the safety of all city residents.
Bengkulu Mayor Dedy Wahyudi, affirmed that infrastructure development will proceed, although it will be carried out in stages. He requested the public’s patience, as program implementation cannot be done simultaneously.
“In 2026, we will focus on building drainage. For roads that are not yet smooth, InshaAllah (God willing), we will fix them. But I ask for time, as our city is large and the budget is limited,” Dedy said.
The Mayor also stated that the government will continue to accommodate and follow up on various public complaints regarding public facilities, such as roads, drainage, and street lighting. However, the City Government will prioritize the most urgent needs.
“I hear many complaints from the community about roads, drainage, and streetlights. With the limited funding conditions, we will still carry out development, but gradually and focused on the needs that are truly urgent,” he explained. Careful prioritization ensures that the most impactful and necessary improvements are addressed first.
Furthermore, Dedy ensured that the main target of the Bengkulu City Government is to make all roads within the city smooth and properly passable.
“I ask for your understanding; we are conducting development in stages. Our target is clear: all city roads must be smooth. Because funding is limited, we cannot do it all at once, so the public must be patient,” he added.
As a matter of fact, the Bengkulu City Government has already conducted asphalt paving in dozens of residential areas in phases. Additionally, the government has followed up on various public complaints regarding drainage, bridges, and other infrastructure. The community has welcomed this move and feels supported by a government actively responding to issues on the ground. (FIRMAN)
