BENGKULUTERKINI.ID – A technician worker from PT Optima Smartindo Industri, Arief Al (37), originally from Tangerang, Banten, died after being struck by a high-voltage electric current on Monday, November 3, 2025. The victim suffered the fatal accident while carrying out maintenance on Public Street Lighting (LPJU) in Lebong Regency. This devastating workplace fatality highlights the critical importance of stringent safety protocols in high-risk infrastructure maintenance jobs.
According to gathered data, the tragedy occurred while Arief and his colleagues were working on the LPJU repair project for the Lebong Regency Public Works and Transportation Agency (PUPR-Hub) in the area of Sukau Kayo Village, Lebong Atas District.
At approximately 11:15 AM WIB, the victim began climbing the utility pole. Just 15 minutes later, around 11:30 AM WIB, the victim was suddenly struck by a high-voltage electric current.
The victim’s colleagues who witnessed the event immediately rushed him to the Sukau Datang Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Tubei District. Unfortunately, Arief did not survive and was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the Puskesmas. His sudden passing is a profound loss for his family and the entire team.
